This is a trek that will give you everything you want from a Himalayan adventure. Surya Top has some of the greatest views of the upper peaks, like Bandarpoonch (almost 21,000 feet!) and Dropdi Ka Danda at 21,062 feet. Despite the views of these immense, gigantic altitudinous giants, this is an easy trek, on which you can learn the lifestyle of the village people in Agoda and Barsu. Oak, cedar, and rhododendron forests surround Dayara, a Himalayan meadow, before trekkers reach the Surya Top summit. In April, May, and June, the forests are full of blossoms and wildlife. With Monal pheasant, butterflies, and eagles soaring over the wildflowers, this is a trek you won’t soon forget.
This trek to Surya Top and Uchlaru Top is suitable for those trekkers who are in good health and over the age of 12 years. A good portion of the trek is walking with gradual inclines or declines. The only exception is the day we trek along the ridge of the mountains. Even that day is more exciting than difficult.

All who wish to join us directly in Rishikesh.
We begin our drive to Barsu in Rishikesh and travel for six to seven hours. The village of Barsu is located at an elevation of about 7400 feet. While trekkers are enjoying lunch, we’ll pitch the tents at Bugyal Sarai. Take the afternoon to visit the nearby village. You’ll soon learn and appreciate how self-sufficient these villagers are. Learn about their culture and observe their everyday life, then return to the tens for overnight. The altitude at Barsu is 7,400 feet.
Today’s trek starts early, as packing up takes time – so finish your breakfast and get ready to trek. A walk of about six or seven hours gives you an amazing view of the Himalayas that surround you. Dayara Bugyal is at an altitude of about 11,200 feet. We camp overnight at Dayara Bugyal.
This is one of the most interesting days on our Himalayan trek. This is the adventure you expected – walking along the ridge of the mountain for five hours. You can rest assured that our guides are prepared to come to your aid, if necessary. Just imagine that you are walking along with hundreds of feet of cliffs directly below you. Your adventurous day comes to an end. Tents are pitched at Syari Bugyal for the remainder of the night.
Prepare to trek from 12,800 feet to 13,200 feet as we trek from Surya Top to Uchlaru Top immediately after breakfast. From Uchlaru, you can wonder at the immensity of Bandarpoonch at 20,833 feet, Gangotri I, II, and II, Jaonli at 21,653 feet, Draupadi Ka Danda at 21,100 andSrikanth,. This will be the most exhilarating day of your trekking adventure. Your return is along the ridge, back to Syari Bugyal and the night in tents.
We take a different route back to Barsu that includes a trek through rhododendron, cedar, and oak forest. This route is basically downhill the entire way into the small village. The dark, deep forest is a wonder to behold in April, May, and June when the blossoms are abundant and fragrant. There is a permanent camp at Bugyal Serain where you can take advantage of a hot water bucket bath. You will then enjoy a delicious dinner and an overnight stay in tents.
The six to seven-hour trip back to Rishikesh is interrupted only for lunch along the way.
The Dayara and Gidara Bugyal trek can be done at any time of year, but the best months are May to July, August end to mid-October, and December to February. This destination has thick blankets of snow from November to March, making it suitable for skiers.
Dayara Bugyal is considered to be the best winter trek destination since it provides us an alpine snow environment. You will be able to see snow cover from December onward and you will walk around 9 kilometers on an average every day.
It has only less number of trekkers compared to other popular ones especially in winter and hence if you look for an offbeat experience with limited people around, then Dayara Bugyal is a good option. Options to do skiing make Dayara Bughyal a perfect spot for winter treks.
From January to March, the thick snow cover will make skiing a favourite adventure. Barnala is the perfect slope for first time skiers.
The trek brings us to a highland meadow situated in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand which stands tall at an elevation of 10,000-12,500ft.
